Found a recipe a few months back for home made vanilla extract. After weeks researching subtle differences between the 3 main types of vanilla beans (Bourbon Madagascar, Tahitian, and Mexican) and the best alcohol to use for extracting their flavor, and finally finding quality vanilla beans in bulk locally, we finally have started our batches of double strength vanilla extract. It won't be ready until summer '13 so until then we will continue to use our premium local vanilla.
